8th Place Orator: Lydia on Sibling Rivalry

We returned Sunday from the first Stoa NITOC (National Invitation Tournament of Champions). Hundreds of homeschool families whose kids qualified to the National Tournament gathered at the University of San Diego for speech and debate competition. It was an absolute blast!

And Lydia came through all the way to the final round in Original Oratory! It is a pleasant explanation on siblings getting along with one another. Lydia has made it through a significant journey in understanding and accepting her brothers and sisters, and her oratory attempts to bring it all together. We’re quite proud of her accomplishment.

And here’s her speech, the final round at NITOC, captured last Friday:

Woohoo!! Good job, Cynthia! Although I’m not sure I want my kids to watch it, my girls may INSIST on being tomboys, lol! J/K, that was fantastic, and I will enjoy very much sharing it with my children. Thanks for taking the time to prepare and deliver that so well, I’m sure it will touch more people than you know!!

Lydia’s terrific at telling stories creatively like that. I’d think she would make a great actress someday.

That was amazing! Much can be learned from that speech! I have been blessed with kids who generally enjoy each other, but there is still room for improvement. I’m going to have to have them watch that!

  • Heather

Wow, that was wonderful and made me think twice about my relationship with my brother!! I was a great topic and had lots of amazing points “friends come and go but siblings are there forever” very true.. Good Job

What a great speech. I am very impressed with her speaking skills and words of wisdom. As a young mom of 5 I am encouraged by her. Hoping the seeds I am sowing will produce good fruit like I see Lydia. What a blessing:)
