Larger Family Life

We’ve been friends with Tania from Large Family Life for the past few years now. She and her family have built up quite a nice website dedicated to those of us who enjoy the blessings of children: Larger Family LifeWe were featured today on their website.

Here are some nuggets:

As our family has grown we have been led to believe more and more in love as the necessary dynamic in our family that must prevail over all else. We see love similarly to the bible’s take on love: it is the Greatest Commandment. We can’t miss the mark of love in life.

Something broke at 7 kids. People began to respect our convictions more than criticize them, and that made things much nicer for welcoming the next children.

When I met Chris and we went out on our first date, he said he wanted 10 kids. I thought he was crazy!

I love frugality. I think it is a way of life, always looking out for the best deals. My cookbooks have a ton of suggestions for mothers who are trying to pinch pennies, but I would say this is my best suggestion: “shop in your own house FIRST.”

Simplicity has been a real blessing to our family, and “de-cluttering” is one of their ideas, probably their best tip.

I know this sounds crazy to people, but I would love to have another child.

Great article! As one of seven kids…and probably the “pickiest” eater of the bunch…Wendy’s flexibility for meals at breakfast and lunch time warmed my heart! Kiddingly, when referring to family meals as a kid I point to a small scar on my left arm and say, “See that scar? There were seven kids in my family and only 8 hotdogs in a pack. That scar’s from fork marks caused by fighting for the last hot dog.” Usually gets a smile… Thanks for sharing your story with the world!

I love the hotdog story, Dan! Come to think of it, the fork marks have gone down since we had our 16th. ;)
