This is where we err: we teach our teens WHAT to think (as opposed to HOW to think), hoping and praying they won’t push back later.
I would argue that those who refuse to debate insist to remain ignorant. Worse yet, they cling to worldviews that are likely wrong, like an atheist clinging to a godless universe when evidence is all around him.
A friend of mind, Mark Mittelberg, is an apologist. He encouraged me to watch some videos made a few years ago of a debate that was conducted at Willow Creek in Illinois. I just now watched them…and they are excellent.
I had the privilege of meeting Josh McDowell and his son, Sean, yesterday at Focus on the Family. The place is crawling with high school debaters this weekend, and that’s something that gets us adults pumped up!
